Cupid Arrow’s For Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and there are so many great ideas out there. I came across a Candy Cupid Arrow Pin from Creative Capital B that I thought it would be great for friends. I of course took my own spin on it and used Hi-Chew instead of gum and used Dove chocolates.

You light up my life Valentine

Here is my dilemma: I would like to make my hubby a gift for Valentines Day but I don’t want it to be centered around candy. My hubs and I have set a goal for ourselves to improve our diets and try to lead a healthier life. For us this includes no added sugar.  Despite the fact that candy is my favorite food group (I might be related to Buddy the Elf) and Valentines Day is a major candy type of holiday, I want this Valentines Day to be centered around activities and gifts that you can’t eat.

Love and Pink Burlap

This project was inspired by the many yarn wrapped letters that are all over Pinterest. I decided to take this idea in a different direction by wrapping mini letters in burlap ribbon. Great idea, right? Well… not quite. The finished project looks great but to be honest the process of completing this project was a pain in the neck. As much as I like the look of burlap, the little holes make great spots for hot glue to seep through and burn fingers. After I completed this project I told Jillian to remind me how much I dislike working with burlap next time I have another “great idea”. Of course I’ll probably quickly forget about my pain and will do another project with burlap soon.

Do you like working with burlap? Do you have tricks or a favorite adhesive that you use when trying to stick burlap to other materials? I would love to hear about it in the comments below!

Pinterest Fail Redo

Did you catch our first #PinterestFail? We made attempted to make Cranberry Habanero Brie Bites but we didn’t follow the directions very carefully. We accidentally used fillo dough instead of puff pastry…opps.

Let me start by saying that I’m so glad we tried again. These. Were. Delicious. We found this recipe on Pinterest with over 11,000 pins. The original recipe was for Cranberry Brie Bites but we decided to be resourceful and use the Cranberry Habanero jelly that we made for our very first post. I have to say that it was a good decision. The spice that was added from the habanero was perfect. Don’t hesitate to make this recipe yours but keep it simple, that’s one of the biggest bonuses of this recipe! Give it a try, they’re pretty yummy.
